Without question the most widely used exterior decorative product is masonry paint, not necessarily because it`s the best solution but it is certainly the most well known and widely available. But whereas masonry paint offers very little protection and indeed scores zero when it comes to refurbishment, our comprehensive external wall and roof coatings, anti vandal, anti climb and graffiti protection products offer a complete refurbishment and decorative finish that can also be applied all year around. So from stone protection through to damp problems and even in the case of leaky roofs the coating protection system offers a guaranteed solution.
How they differ
Our whole product range is vastly different to conventional paint by displaying the following properties:
This claim might sound far fetched but in reality this is because one of the ingredients is effectively a plasticiser which actually repels water. So inevitably when dust and dirt gathers on the surface of our coatings and it rains the plasticiser actually repels water and washes away the unwanted dirt.
Resistant to peeling
Primarily peeling and cracking is mainly due to moisture within the wall underneath the paint. However our whole product range is highly breathable yet still waterproof because of it`s microporous action which in effect acts like our own skin; just as we sweat but don`t fill with water when we shower, our coating products are much the same; they allow the drying or evaporation of moisture that is already in the wall, yet will not allow moisture to penetrate the flexible armour like coating, a one way valve if you like.
When the top coat is applied to the primer a chemical reaction occurs which effectively changes the top coat into a stable or inert material, so this gives an incredibly long working life. In addition to prevent fading or discolouring titanium dioxide is added so if a customer gets an extension or conservatory built up to 15 years after the coating is applied and needs more work doing we guarantee to match the original colour.
All season application
Due to the clever nature of the ingredients in our product range UNLIKE masonry paint our coatings can be applied all year around, in reality constant driving rain presents the only problem for installation. Even if we have a small window in between showers application is possible.
Types of Finish
Anti climb provides an effective deterrent to unwanted visitors. It can be applied to any vertical or horizontal surface and provides a VISIBLE deterrent that consists of a petroleum based material which contains a non drying thixotropic compound that carries a pigment which is clearly visible under u.v light, and a trace element that can be identified by a chemical detector.
The idea of roof-gard is to provide long term protection and decoration for a given roof. It is suitable for use on concrete, or masonry, mineral, composite and even asbestos, but is ideally suited to roof tiles. Roof-gard is water, stain and weather resistant. In this case application takes place when rain is not expected for the following 24 hours. The surface to be treated is first repaired if necessary, then power washed and biocide applied if required before the roof-gard is generously spray applied in either a transparent or colour finish.
This is a transparent material that provides a “working surface” to any vulnerable freshly coated or recently constructed area. Graffiti re-gard will resist an onslaught from marker, spray paint and many other forms of vandalism. Each time the surface is defaced a tiny layer is removable along with the offending marks simply with a pressure wash. Even though a very small amount of the surface is taken away this still provides a long life solution under normal circumstances. The only requirement for application is that the air temperature should be above 5 degrees celcius .
This is a broad spectrum bacteria treatment effective against fungai, bacteria and algae. Biocide provides a one off long term treatment that works especially well with our wall and roof coating products. It is however completely safe when applied by a trained technician. It`s degradable when diluted and complies to UK pesticide registration 4895.
Wetherdry (STONE PROTECTION)
This is a transparent coating and is not visible to the naked eye. So when applied to problem stone or brick, pro-clear will deal with any damp problem but not change the appearance which is especially useful on older buildings or for protecting architectural features. So even though the appearance is the same it still forms a protective, waterproof, breathable barrier. There are various domestic treatments that claim to produce the same results, which is the case for a very short period of time. Quite rapidly the domestic solution will actually sink into the brick or stone rendering the treatment useless. Where as the pro-clear product actually “anchors” itself to the surface at point of application and that`s where it stays! So when compared it`s easy to see the advantages of pro-clear over these heath robinson products.
This is a pliolite resin based material which is extremely waterproof, breathable and yields excellent flexibility so this product helps to cover imperfections and provides an ideal bonding surface for all of the coating products. Unlike some conventional masonry paints classic primer shows excellent resilience against alkali.
This is the first of the top coat variations which is suited to any conventional building material. Classic smooth displays excellent resistance to weathering and ageing. The lack of pearlite allows a smooth finish even though it is applied much thicker than conventional paint (about 20 times as thick).
This arguably provides the most protection due to the coverage (1 kilo per square metre or a wet film thickness of 1200 microns). Just like the rest of the family tex-gard 21 Has superb u.v resistance and because of the liberal pearlite contents this offers the most insulation also.
The flexibility this product even exceeds the rest of the product range, displaying phenomenal crack accommodating elastomeric properties which make it ideally suited to use on older properties which may be used in conjunction with lime mortar if movement is likely, or prefabricated concrete structures. The resistance to cracks is universal no matter what the ambient temperature.
In terms of the make up the manufacture process really is an exact science in terms of quantities, order and length of mixing, so following a strict process ensures a consistency of finished product. So each of the products above are made up of various combinations of the following:
This is a thrixotrophic agent formed from bentonite. The structure forms a honey comb type arrangement because of its platelet makeup. This practically ads to the viscosity and prevents low speed “shearing” when combined with the other ingredients. This benefits our coatings by reducing “sag” and increasing film thickness which helps to achieve a consistent finish and offers more protection.
Originally invented by the goodyear tyre corporation of America. It is in essence a thermoplastic newtonian resin; a styrene-acrylate co-polymer which demonstrates excellent adhesive properties and u.v resistance. Upon application pliolite easily penetrates or catches on to masonry surfaces and creates a microporous or breathable barrier when applied.
This is a naturally occurring substance that is formed from the release of steam created by the rapid cooling of volcanic rock at temperatures of between 1500 and 2000 degrees farenheight . This ultimately expands to 20 times its original volume and provides excellent insulation properties when used in our coatings.
Titanium dioxide (Tio2) is photo sensitive and has “light scattering” properties as well as the ability to absorb u.v light. This allows for a bright finish and incredible resistance to colour fade. When used in conjunction with polymer products the durability is considerably increased. So for longevity and colour retention this is a must in our products.
Supplied in the form of an aqueous, solvent free solution. Silicone is excellent at preventing water and moisture penetration, whilst still allowing the release of moisture, salts or even alkali and so proves to be a vital component.
Mica helps to “lubricate” and helps to prevent cracking during the application process. Mica also assists in bonding the coating to the wall. Chemically mica is structured not unlike roof tiles, which also adds to the durability and life expectancy of our coatings.
The flock structure aids in the filling and reinforcing of the coating and so aids in the prevention of “sagging” which will always be an issue when a thick liquid is applied to a vertical surface. Polyfibre also adds to the flexibility of the coating.
Dries rapidly and so has proven very useful for decorative coatings. So given the substantial coverage required Alkyd resin helps to achieve an even finish and it won`t suffer from “yellowing” which is common place with conventional paint.
This is a broad spectrum anti microbial agent which IS NOT mercury based and so is the safer option conforming to UK pesticide regulation 4895. Unlike many pesticides our fungicide it not only has a broad range of use but is resistant to other compounds; as a result there is no chance of “chalking” which sometimes happens with masonry paint.
This is a vinyl acetate copolymer dispersion agent which contains medium sized particles stabilized with a cellulose either. This is used in our coatings for its amazing alkali resistant properties and helps to prevent dirt pick up. Another benefit of Aqua resin is its ability to accept colour which makes a customers own colour choice possible.Get a free quote today
